Do you know the name of this alien abduction movie w/ rain that flows upward?

The lead character was a girl who (I think) was visiting some relatives. She found that once she crossed the town line her car stops. People begin missing all over. When the aliens take someone they are surrounded by water and the water droplets flow upward. I think the aliens put up some type of barrier around the town. There's a scene at the general store or sheriff's station where someone is getting attacked and they are rescued by some guy who just pops up from the dark. It think its was one of those cheesy SyFy channel weekend movies. Movie takes place mostly at night. The twist is that the aliens were actually helping the people they took and returned them at the end of the movie.
