Why do Christians pray?

I know you were not intending to, but you HAVE offended me, mostly by , "Is this a fundamental flaw in Christianity,or am i missing some information? Can someone, (preferably who knows what they are talking about) explain the phenomenon behind this action, In relationship to the already established idea of gods grand plan?". We pray because God tells us to, we thank Him and request blessings of Him.
