Why do muslims and christians believe in different things?

their fundamental beliefs are pretty much the same, they both believe in one god, they both believe that the Messiah has come, they both believe that you should honor your mother and father they both believe that adultery is wrong they both believe in pretty much the same, as far as i can tell the religion is identical??
