Do you think this is realistic?

Here's my situation. I have a scholarship, and I have to maintain a cumulative 2.8 gpa. In my first semester of college, I did terribly and finished with a 2.3 gpa. I did much better in my second semester but my cumulative gpa was 2.78. So my scholarship has been revoked. What are the chances of getting my scholarship back if I appeal? The thing is, this scholarship can be reinstated in the 2012-2013 year if I get a 3.0 gpa in the next 2011-2012 year, but I can't even go back to this college if I don't have the scholarship for next year.
